Irene Pressley, 64, was found dead Monday in Williamsburg County

Authorities in South Carolina are looking for whoever shot and killed a U.S. Postal Service worker who was on her delivery route.

Irene Pressley, 64, was found dead Monday in Williamsburg County.

Pressley had been working with the postal service for 22 years. 

U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokeswoman Jessica Adams says Pressley was killed while she was working. It's unclear whether she was inside a mail carrier's vehicle when she was shot. 

Williamsburg County Coroner Harrison McKnight says her death appears to be a homicide. He says an autopsy is being performed to determine Pressley's official cause of death. 

The Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office hasn't announced a suspect or a motive.

On Facebook, the sheriff's department shared a post from USPS stating that they were offering a reward for anyone with information pertaining to the shooting.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is assisting with the investigation.

The St. John Morrisville Church shared a photo of the postal worker and offered their words of support to her family.

'Mrs. Pressley was a faithful servant, who served and ministered for countless years,' the church added. 

'She served on many departments, to include being the President of the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) for many years.

She was very near to retirement. Is it possoble that a person or persons may have killed her or have her killed so that they can collect her 401K, and other benefits that she would have collected had she stay alive and retire. These days this is a big motive. Money and sex are the two biggest motives. We saw in Wisconsin where a 59 year old kept her dead 89 year old mother in the basement, so that she, the daughter can continue to collect her mother's social security, dividend and other moneys her mother was getting.  The level of diviousness is astronomical, and nothing is off limits in people's quest to get what others have work hard for.
