ABC producers were left scrambling to edit Tamron Hall's talk show after she confessed to viewers she used to 'facilitate' selling cocaine when she was a teenager, DailyMail.com can reveal.
The TV host shocked her studio audience - and network executives - during Tuesday's taping when she admitted to 'facilitating' the sale of the drug with her college boyfriend, sources said.
Production insiders told DailyMail.com Hall's admission threw ABC for a loop forcing frantic producers to cut it from the pre-recorded program.
It is unclear in which context she made the revelation, but Tuesday's episode included a segment with former 'Dirty Jobs' host Mike Rowe.
Hall told DailyMail.com in a statement that she had never 'dealt drugs' and was speaking about 'part of an 'open and honest conversation.'
'During an interview with prison rights advocate Topeka Sam, I shared a story about a bad situation I got myself into when I was 19. I never dealt drugs.
'I am now nearly 50 years old and was reflecting on a bad judgement call that could have turned worse. I say but for the grace of God, there go I.
'It was part of an open and honest conversation about women, incarceration and mistakes made.
'For legal reasons a portion of that segment was edited from the show. I hope my show can be a forum for sharing stories without shame or judgement - including a conversation we're having Friday on opioid addiction.'

Hall, who earned her degree in broadcast journalism from Temple University, made her return to daytime television with the premiere of her eponymous show last month.
The former Today show host left NBC in 2017 at the end of her contract and following the news of Megyn Kelly receiving her own hour with the morning show.
Ahead of her show's debut, she revealed to Good Housekeeping she made the decision to leave after realizing the network 'wanted something else' and it just wasn't her.
'On the outside, it looked like it was all together. "Look at her, she's walking out, her head up." My head is never going to be bowed, but I had to pray not to be broken,' Tamron told the publication about walking away from the job.
When looking back on the moment, Tamron now realizes leaving the Today show has opened up new, and better, opportunities for herself.
'I don't think I've ever said this out loud, but every 'no' that I received in my life, and there have been many, it's made sense at some point in time,' she said.
'Even things I prayed to get and 'Oh my gosh, I want that job,' and I didn't get it, I look back and I say, 'Whew, thank goodness I didn't get that.''

Her show premiered on the same day as NBC's new talk show launch, which features Kelly Clarkson as the host. However Tamron insists that this scheduling does not make the two women competitors.
'There's not a head to head,' she said. 'Anyone who would write, 'Oh there's a battle' is simply looking for a headline.
'Kelly Clarkson will have a phenomenal show and I'm not just saying that, I'm saying that because I'm a fan of hers on American Idol, and she's a fun-loving person.'
She also recently became a mother to her son, Moses, after hiding the pregnancy from the public for months until finally revealing the bump In March — nearly two month before she gave birth.
Even with a new job and motherhood taking up her time, Tamron stated it wasn't all she was as a person.
'We are not the biggest job we've landed. We are not, even with motherhood, I love my son...[but] even he is not the total sum of my journey...I'm not Tamron from the Today show. I'm Tamron,' she said.
Tamron has established herself as having a life away from the cameras by keeping relatively private about her personal life.

This was proven with her keeping the pregnancy hidden from the public for months, as it was a 'high-risk' pregnancy.
But when she quietly revealed her pregnancy in March, Tamron also informed the public she was married to her music executive husband, Steve Greener.
'It's proof you can keep things private,' Tamron joked with the publication.
She faced backlash from the public on keeping the marriage and pregnancy a secret, but the talk show host insists it was to protect her relationships. Her husband also pushed for the privacy.
'He wants my show to make it, but he wants our marriage to work and he knows part of that is maintaining this foundation, and him being comfortable with who he is and not pushed into someone he isn't,' Tamron told Good Housekeeping.
She continued: 'We're an interracial couple, we're both older parents, he's from the Bronx, I'm from Texas, that alone is a divide.
'We knew we wanted to prepare ourselves for what this exciting journey would bring.'
Due to her age and the high-risk pregnancy, Tamron decided to keep her future son a secret from the public until she was ready.
'I said to my doctor, 'How much do I tell?' and he said, 'You don't owe anybody your story.' And I said, 'Cancer survivors tell their stories,' and he said, 'That's a choice,'' Tamron said.

Inquiring minds have waited for the moment Tamron Hall would really open up and spill the tea about her unceremonious exit from NBC’s Today Show.
And on Monday, when her new talk-show debuted on ABC, Hall addressed the situation head-on, The NY Daily News reports
This time, Hall said she’s “ripping off the mask.” It’s her stage and her time and she didn’t tip-toe around how she ended up fired when Meghan Kelly was given her time slot.
“I go into work one day. I left fired. ‘Demoted’ I guess is what they called it. I called it fired,” Hall said within missing a beat within the first five minutes into her Tamron Hallshow.
“Didn’t matter what I looked like on the outside, inside, I was falling apart. I had worked since I was 14,” she explained.
Hall said that when she was fired, she started getting jobs offers trickling in. Among them was a call from Harvey Weinstein before she knew about the explosive rape allegations that have dogged him.
She said she took the meeting to see what would pan out.
“This is before he had been accused of what we now know is playing out on television and now in a courtroom,” she explained.
However, she said she was inspired to continue pursuing her career after a visit to a domestic violence shelter to help women in need. The trip made her realize, “If they can get up, I can get up.”
Now she’s back in business!
Good for Tamron. We hope the Today Show is taking notes!
On February 2, 2017 Al Roker announced that Tamron Hall would be leaving the Today show and NBC News. "We want to wish her nothing but the best, much continued success, and cannot wait to see what her next chapter is," Al said at the time.
Right away, the announcement shocked Today show fans, with many wonderingwhat the real reason behind Tamron's sudden departure was (and if it had anything to do with the arrival of Megyn Kelly from Fox News).
Here's what Tamron has said about her exit:
Why did Tamron Hall really leave Today?
Reports began to surface in late January of 2017 that Megyn was "being considered" for her own hour-long program on Today that would air in the fall. She was either going to take over the 9.a.m. hour, which Tamron and Al were running at the time, or the 10 a.m. hour that belonged to Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.
What's more, the network made clear that if they put Megyn in the 10 a.m. slot, they'd move KLG and Hoda up an hour. The same wasn't true for Al and Tamron, however. As The New York Times put it, "the current iteration of the third hour of Today ... will be at thing of the past once Ms. Kelly's show begins."
All while this unnerving news was going around, Tamron's contract with NBC happened to be up in February. The journalist had been with NBC since 2007, having first joined MSNBC and later becoming a part of Today in 2014. She was allegedly in the process of negotiating her contract when the news broke.
However, Tamron decided to walk away just days after reports about Megyn surfaced.
“Yesterday was her last day as an anchor on both networks,” a statement from NBC News read on February 1, 2017. “Tamron is an exceptional journalist, we valued and enjoyed her work at Today and MSNBC and hoped that she would decide to stay. We are disappointed that she has chosen to leave, but we wish her all the best.”
Additionally, Tamron shared her own statement: "The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful. I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you.”
Where is Tamron Hall now?
Fast forward to today, and Tamron couldn't be doing better. For one, Tamron recently welcomed her first baby with her husband, Steve Greener, in late April. The 48-year-old journalist was ecstatic to share the news about her baby boy named Moses.
"Moses & Mama!! I can’t wait to introduce y’all to my #sonshine," she wrote on Instagram. "Photo credit: Dad who can’t stop crying tears of joy. Thank y’all for the love and support. It got us here."
Behind the scenes though, Tamron shared with People that she was initially worried about telling people she was pregnant, which explains why she didn't reveal the truth to fans until she was at the 8-month mark.
"I was high-risk, not just because of my age, but there were other medical factors, too,” she told the publication. "I was terrified I would lose this baby and I would have to go back and tell everyone that now it was bad news and after this pregnancy had gone so far.”
Fortunately, Moses and Tamron are doing well. And now, on top of being a new mom, Tamron has her own talk show launching on September 9, 2019. Varietyexplains that the set up will be like the Oprah Winfrey Show and Phil Donahue Show and will cover both light-hearted lifestyle topics as well as in-depth stories.
All in all, Tamron is the living, breathing definition of the old saying, "When one door closes, another one opens." But even though she is thriving now, Tamron admitted to GoodHousekeeping.com that her mind was racing when she left NBC.
"On the outside, it looked like it was all together. 'Look at her, she's walking out, her head up.' My head is never going to be bowed, but I had to pray not to be broken," Tamron explained.
But eventually, she realized that everything does, in fact, happen for a reason.
"I don't think I've ever said this out loud, but every 'no' that I received in my life, and there have been many, it's made sense at some point in time," she reflected. "We are not the biggest job we've landed ... I'm not Tamron from the Today show. I'm Tamron."

'More to share in a few weeks when the baby arrives! Next chapter! Blessed and Grateful.'
Tamron has kept her love life very much under wraps, preferring to keep details about her romances as private as possible.
However in February 2017, around the same time that she was making her rather abrupt exit from Today, the TV host revealed during an interview with Steve Harvey that she was dating someone who worked in 'entertainment', however gave away few other details as to his identity.
She did admit that living life in the public eye has made it difficult for her to date, although noted that the toll has actually been more difficult for the men.
'You know, I feel it’s tougher for the guys, because if I break up with them, then they can go on and be forced to watch me on TV everyday,' she joked. I don’t see them.
It is not known whether the man she referred to back in 2017 is her now-husband, however she is understood to have tied the knot with music executive Steven Greener, the head of music talent management at Primary Wave Entertainment.
The company works with a wide variety of artists including Alice Cooper, Melissa Etheridge, and Plain White T's. According to Variety, Steven started his music management career looking after Will Smith, and he has also had a hand in the production of several movies.
Concealed: Tamron stepped out at a red carpet event on February 11, however she kept her stomach concealed under a baggy yellow dress, giving away not hints about her pregnancy
Under wraps: The flowing tulle dress allowed Tamron to keep her bump completely hidden, despite the fact that she would have been around seven months pregnant at the time
DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Tamron and Steven for comment.
And as if those two pieces of news weren't enough to keep her fans happy, the TV anchor also shared the premiere date of her new talk show Tamron Hall, revealing that it will debut on Monday, September 9.
'When one door closes… (say it with me) another one opens!' Hall wrote on Instagram.

Before work started on her own talk show, Tamron was formerly the national news anchor for NBC News, day-side anchor for MSNBC, host of the program MSNBC Live with Tamron Hall, and a co-host of Today's Take, the third hour of Today.
However in February 2017 she announced she was leaving Today, shortly before Megyn Kelly was due to take over the third hour of Today from Tamron and Al Roker, who had co-hosted the segment for the previous three years.
'The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful,' Tamron said at the time. 'I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you.'
