More and more promoters in Jamaica are throwing in the towel and giving up on events promotion, because of: (1) personal reasons; (2) the high cost they have to pay to contract suitable entertainers; (3) the period of time they have to end events, IF they are granted a permit under the Noise Abatement Act in Jamaica; and (4) The high fees they have to pay the Parish Council to obtain the permit.

Most promoters will tell you that they are giving up mainly because of numbers 3 and 4.

Under the Noise Abatement Act; promoters who are granted a license to host their events on Fridays and Saturdays have to end by 2:00am, and Sundays through Thursdays by midnight.

Well this is not a new issue, but it is one that is causing headache and heartache for most promoters as party goers in Jamaica usually attend events after 11pm on any given night.

There is a big fuss this festive season among promoters and authorities, as promoters think that the authorities can slacken the noose a little for them to go for longer periods.
