What good is a video intercom?

I've relatively recently finished renovating my house and made myself a smart home.
Now I have a kettle, a vacuum cleaner, an oven, everything is connected to the smart home, now I can control everything and turn it on through my phone, it is just incredibly convenient.
And of recent purchases to the smart home, I bought a video intercom aiphone to protect the house and property.
Now I'm thinking about buying a video intercom for my parents so I don't have to worry so much about their security.
In general, I highly recommend getting one for yourself if you don't already have one).

I have not yet put myself on a video intercom, but I thought a lot about it, is not enough alarm system and cameras?
Do you think a video intercom is necessary in this case?
