  • No suspect has been arrested but police say they have plenty of leads

A two-year-old boy was murdered in Chicago Tuesday afternoon in a gang-related shooting that was streamed on Facebook Live.

Lavontay White was riding in a car with his pregnant 20-year-old aunt Breunna Devonte and her 26-year-old boyfriend who has not been named at around 1:30pm when a gunman cut them off, got out of the car and opened fire on their vehicle.

Devonte, who is pregnant, happened to be filming their journey at the time and recorded herself fleeing the vehicle as shots rang out.

Lavontay is the third child to be shot this week in Chicago  - and the second to die.

The video starts with Devonte and her boyfriend singing along to music while her nephew sits in the back seat.

About three minutes in, the sing-a-long turns violent when several shots ring out and Devonte can be seen scrambling out of the car.

She then runs down the alley where they had been driving and begs for a neighbor to let her into their home.

'Call 911! They killed him ... I have a bullet in my stomach,' the woman screams.

Devonte sustained gunshot wounds to her stomach but she and her unborn baby are in fair condition at Mount Sinai Hospital and are expected to survive. Family say she is about four months pregnant.

Lavontay was the second child die from a shooting on Tuesday in Chicago.

Takiya Holmes, 11, died Tuesday morning from wounds suffered in a Saturday shooting.  A 19-year-old has been charged with her murder.

Another girl, 12-year-old Kanari Gentry Bowers, was also wounded in a shooting over the weekend and remained on life support on Tuesday.

'This has got to stop,' Johnson said at the crime scene on Tuesday. 'Our children shouldn’t have to keep paying the price for our inability to hold repeat gun offenders accountable for their actions.'

Mayor Rahm Emanuel also released a statement, saying that when children are killed 'our consciences are shaken and are hearts are broken'.

Chicago has seen a recent spike in gun violence. Last year, the city had 4,000 shooting victims and 762 homicides - a two-decade high. The issue hasn't stopped this year. Since the beginning of 2017, there have already been at least 76 homicides.

Sorry Mia, I'm not proposing "jack", because you are going to do you and people gotta be free in America. It's the only shot worth shooting. This is a conversation for like minded, and not so like minded people.

Are there any real solutions on the table?    If this were a bunch of green people doing this to each other, what would be the proposals?

@Dexter; non in the least, unless you profit from offloading as many guns as possible and only out for numero #1. Also, I don't take too much to heart what "many whites" have to say on anything slave oriented. As per the time they perpetuared and "made it great", pretty clearly showed their humanity on the whole. Those privileged people that can be transitioned into slavery may not ever even realize it happened. "Can I please be a slave, & be regarded as less than a human being ", said no one, EVER.

Chicago has been set up to fail long before the trump era..Trump has announced clean it up or the feds will. Dumping illegal guns in poorly kept hoods with no economic social advantage is now ground zero for MARSHAL LAW. The FEDS and other shadow government entities have created another genocide to remove black men from society at a alarming rate...agree or disagree the truth is not hidden, only those who hide behind rose petal glasses.

@Jerome S thx. As for manufacturing jobs equating to slave jobs, many whites in the rust belt areas of the country don't see it that way. Like Bernie Sanders trump talked about doing away & renegotiating the trade deals & it gave many of them that feel left behind by the economic recovery hope. There was a time where working for a Detroit car manufacturer paid about $30/hr. Now its half that. People raised families with 1 income & owned homes, were able to go on vacations & save for retirement from those decent paying jobs. Now, most families, the husband & wife must work & with many of these low paying jobs a person may have to work 2 jobs just to get by. Of course getting a college education or owning a business is the way to go with the current global economy in which we live. With all the current wealth going to the 1%, those good paying factory jobs aren't coming back as trump promised.
As for the gun issue, I have to disagree. laws to enforce background checks should be enforced but with the GOP in the pockets of the gun manufacturers, they will never be. A bill was introduced last week by republicans to allow people who are so mentally incapacitated that they can't work & collect social security, for these folks to be able to purchase guns. Does that make any sense....

@Bigtyme; "Well, a # of my friends are black and I watch the nba, so I know all about the struggle " comes from a "privileged struggle " to maintain an identity. They don't make you brown or privileged as society will accept, wholly .
It's not the people that needs the change, it's the situation moreso. The way people are accepted like criminals don't really make them such. You and I are free to think whatever, we get blocked for not supporting the Bogus systems in place.

And alone, you can't change that.

@S.Miller; yeah, you are roughly "spot on". Timing needs an adjustment, this started as a plan at just a little prior to day one of the first slaveship' purchase before it's movement.
@Dexter; I agree that Miller has pumped some life into this " commentsation". Intelligent life, I'm so honored to admit as your comms are also refreshing. Of course the people that I knew that had/have "plant jobs ", regularly equate them to slave type environment. They all appreciated the pay for service rendered up to a point of submitting or quitting.
Also putting gun manufacturers on the hook for misuse of the guns probly won't stick. It might be safer to push extensively weapons safety, and control.

@SH Miller couldn't have said it better. There was a time when there were manufacturing jobs in this country that blacks could raise a family, own a home & put kids through college. That's all changed after 40yrs of Reaganomics, trade agreements & many jobs leaving these areas going overseas coupled by inadequate school systems.
Trump & the republicans cater to the billion $$ a year gun manufactures & don't care about black people killing themselves in Chicago. Mike Pence's home state of Indiana supplies most of the illegal guns used in Chicago. Why not crack down on gun dealers who aren't doing proper background checks & selling guns to straw purchasers buying guns by the trunkload to take back to Chicago & sell on the streets? Trump will use Chicago as an example though & probably impose marshal law giving authority to the forces he sends in to do whatever they deem necessary & if it means killing blacks indiscriminately, so be it. The solution to curb this epidemic is really simple. Create decent paying jobs like infrastructure jobs trump talked about in his campaign. He signed so many executive orders in his 1st 2 weeks that he had to take a vacation already but no executive order to start these infrastructure projects. Another simple solution to stem gang violence would be legalizing drugs & taking the profit motive away from the gangs. States like Colorado that have legalized weed are making so much money that they actually give the residents a portion of the tax revenues collected.

@jerome I did grow up in the hood and deal with the same people from the hood that's getting locked up and I do deeply care about my people it's not just about a paycheck for me but a chance to reach someone if I can change at lease one person for the better It's a win for everyone in my book we are all placed in some positions where we can make a difference so why not.

@ bigtyme 175; It doesn't matter when you claim to work in enforcement, my prior statement was in reaction to all of the more prior/opening blind statements. Didn't know if anyone was joking, as the topic itself dealt with inner-city violence on quite likely innocent victims.
Loads of people do not take their jobs seriously, and will verbally play themselves for fun and levity. If you work with criminals, you may have heard that they are victims too.

Growing in the hood and working in law enforcement are 2- different situations. 1- needs to stay employed,; 2- needs to stay alive.
