They showed the rapper standing by the side of the road in Seattle dressed in sweatpants, a sweater and with his hands cuffed behind his back after Green called police.

In his bedroom on the bus, the blue sheets appeared to be stained and the beds - both the rapper's and camp beds for crew - were unmade.

There was a packet of baby wipes in the bathroom and clothes strewn across the bus.

In the bedroom, a football and football helmet were used as decorations.

You don’t have to deny rape culture in order to stand by Nelly

Nelly and his team are feeling somewhat vindicated today after it was revealed that a woman who accused the rapper of rape won't testify against him.

TMZ reports that the 21-year old alleged victim's attorney, Karen Koehler, has asked the Auburn Police Department in Washington State, and the King County D.A. to "put a halt to the criminal investigation of [Nelly]. She will not testify further in a criminal proceeding against him."

Koehler added that her client feels the pressure of going up against a celebrity is too much to handle. "Who will believe her? People are saying horrible things already. She cannot handle this. She is about to break."

Nelly's attorney, Scott Rosenblum, told TMZ that he's recommending that the "Hot in Herre" hit maker take legal action against the woman. He also wants her to issue a public apology.

"[The accuser's] reckless accusation, once investigated thoroughly, was exposed for what it was-a fabrication. A fabrication that has caused Nelly and his family to suffer emotionally and financially," Rosenblum said.

As we previously reported, Nelly was arrested Saturday, October 7, after the woman called police to say she’d been raped on board his tour bus hours after a concert.

He was released from custody later that day without charges being filed against him.

Nelly’s accuser ‘claims rape without condom’ as Nelly proclaims innocence Nelly Rape Culture

The older I get, the more I’ve tragically become accustomed to the harsh instant reactions our community has when a Black celebrity is accused of rape.

They are just as predictable as the verdict of white officers accused of shooting unarmed black youth, and just as annoying as the expected excuses white people spout out when the system often fails us.

But nonetheless, our community succumbs to the pettiness and self-deprecating notions of denouncing rape culture in a misguided attempt to “defend our Black men.”

Nine times out of ten, these were the top five horrific defenses you heard when rapper Nelly was arrested — and eventually not charged — for an alleged rape on his tour bus over the weekend:

• It’s a conspiracy to take down the Black man. He must have been trying to make a huge business deal.
• It’s a conspiracy to take down the Black man. He’s too attractive to do something like that.
• It’s a conspiracy to take down the Black man. The accuser wants money and is probably a gold-digger trying to take advantage.
• It’s a conspiracy to take down the Black man. The accuser is probably white and crying rape to put him behind bars.
• It’s a conspiracy to take down the Black man. Look at all the other white men who have raped and gotten away with it… we should focus on them instead.

As the investigation on Nelly continues, the public has yet to be given any details on the accuser or the situation in full to even know if any of the aforementioned theories apply. But sadly, while many of these apologists will spend so much energy yelling “innocent until proven guilty,” why hasn’t the same respect been given to the accuser?

When our community automatically dismiss an alleged rape as a way of defending Black men, we are delusionally implying that they are immune from committing it. We are also putting the lived experiences of past rape victims against a fallible wall of scrutiny that invalidates their truth. When you go out of your way to automatically deny a possible victim of their experience before an investigation has been completed, you are perpetuating the same form of violence you fear is happening to the accused.

If you believe that Nelly is without-a-doubt innocent — even without any evidence or facts being yet presented — you can do so without pushing warped conspiracy theories that do more to infuriate rape victims and denounce the culture as a whole.

To answer your burning questions: Yes, an arguably attractive, wealthy, Black man — like any other race/class/attraction status of men — can commit rape, because such factors don’t have anything to do with the act of rape itself. Rape is about power: A desire for it being carried out in this vicious way crosses all racial and socioeconomic lines.

As much as some would like to conspire that it’s racism that clouds most rape accusations involving Black men, that’s a lie. Rape victims across all racial lines are mainly attacked by members of their own race. In other words, there are more Black women being raped by Black men than white men in America. As many continue to argue that we must defend our Black men in times of such criticism, who’s defending our Black women who are often victimized?

If you are one of those in the community that only discuss rape culture when you believe a Black man is being falsely accused, please sit down. If you find it necessary to position Blackness as as reason for not being held accountable for sexual abuse, you aren’t helping anyone. And if you would rather tear down the lived experiences of rape victims online just to promote your weak defenses, log off. None of these reactions to Nelly’s rape accusations will do anything to make him appear more innocent or bring justice to anyone involved.

It’s too early for anyone to lay down the ultimate verdict on either side of this matter right now. But one thing we all should be mindful of is dismissing the severity of these rape allegations and belittling previous victims of similar abuse.

You can remain a fan without perpetuating the same toxicity that doesn’t help anyone in the long run.

Nelly Denies Rape Accusation: "Y'all Know Damn Well I Ain't Do No Dumb Sh*t Like This"

Nelly was arrested but released without charge Picture: FilmMagic) The unnamed woman accusing Nelly of rape has claimed that he did not use a condom during the act of violence. Nelly was arrested on second degree rape charges at around 7am on Saturday morning, and was released shortly after, pending investigation.

The 21-year-old woman has told TMZ that she was invited on to Nelly’s tour bus after spending Friday evening partying with him and friends, but that when he tried to have sex with her ‘she said no’. ‘She claims Nelly told her to “shut up” and said he wanted to have sex with her without protection, which she says he did over her objections,’ reports TMZ. Nelly’s lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, responded to the claims and alleged that her action are ‘playbook 101 of a person with an agenda’.

‘It does not surprise me that she wanted to have her story publicized. That is playbook 101 of a person with an agenda and clearly she has one. The agenda is money, fame and notoriety,’ said Rosenblum. ‘She’s a person who is making a dangerous, fraudulent allegation to accomplish her own goals,’ he added.

A statement from Auburn Police Department released to press on Saturday October 7 read: ‘At 3:48 AM a female called 911 to report that she was sexually assaulted by a male, who is known as the rapper “Nelly”. ‘The alleged assault was reported to occur on the tour bus that was parked at the listed location. Nelly had performed at the White River Amphitheater just hours before.’

Second degree rape is defined as when a person engages in sexual intercourse with another person where the person uses forcible compulsion and the victim is incapable of consent as they’re physically helpless, mentally incapacitated or disabled.

@Vaugh Mitchell: I agree 100%...  ALL these celebrities that get accused of rape in any way should always counter sue when the liar is exposed. It happens way too often. Females looking for a payday and a quick come up. This feminist movement spin off climate has many females thinking they can just say anything and get away with a win, if its against a man. Its time to start going after the perpetrators.

We all know none of these famous, wealthy men dont have to strong arm some nobody chick for a good time. Lets keep it real. They dive for what they feel is an opportunity for themselves. They all do it. (#P45 is a piece of dunk, but he was right when he said that statement about being famous and wealthy dealing with females).

Its the same old story. Cries of rape when asked to leave, to go, told to get out, when he dont call or return a call for a few days after they smashed. Its nonsense, little girl BS. Yes, a guy may be wrong, for not making you feel special afterwards, but thats no crime and falsely accusing a man of such a crime is criminal in its self. It sould come with mandatory jail time. That would put an end to false allegations..

Its a big game to them. Just look at the Cosby situation. Like him or not, he was/is being rail roaded and hes sued a few of them due to the outrageousness, now many of them dont want any part of the case. Hes plucked them off 1by1 and 2by2, now we dont hear anything, about none of it. The number was around 60 females and counting, where are they now?

Some renown Artist invites me to his bedroom(bus) for an after party,I was not drunk when I accepted his invite. I should have noticed how many other girls attending this `after` Party ? where are the rest of the guests ? am I the only female ? If I was, then I am pretty special to have a party with him all by myself.

Nellie wise up and make your intentions very clear when inviting `wanna b`s` into your private domain for Parties especially if there is going to be only one guest of the opposite sex !

I believe HER and furthermore why did this medium take it upon themselves to publish her name and pics. Shame on you CARIBBEAN FEVER. Whether or not there is guilt, rape is a difficult issue to deal with and requires confidentiality and Sensitivity. You should not have exposed the young lady in this manner.  Plus you might/could get sued for defamation but as we know, those cases are usually of advantage to those in the better financial position...in this case NELLY. I urge people to look at that aspect of this case whilst examining the 'trend' of young women jumping on a 'bandwagon.'

Women are women black or white would do the same thing. It's all about the money. Money has only one color green, and that is what a woman sees. His lawyer is right he should sue her, file charges against her, because later on in life that is all they are going think about.
Comment by Red Walker on October 24, 2017 at 11:34pm

This case is a clear proof that some of these women be lying. Why you don't want to corporate with the investigation. I guess since she was white and Nelly black this would be easy to get him lock up and a payout. Since they never lock him up, clearly showing they did not believe her anyway. I would not put that past some people, but Nelly to me, that is so below this Man. I saw the relationship he had with his daughter, not in him at all. He would never let some nasty women have that over him. I am sick of these lazy hoes looking for an easy payoff. Get a job, F*** for money, Trick them to spend on you. But trying to screw up the someone life forever knowing they did not do that is lower than the dirt on the earth, they don't deserve the air they breathe.
